hey gals..

so..are you still keeping true to your resolutions? about now is the time people start slacking off..in my case i need to at least start a few of them! my weekend goal is to clear, pitch, donate a bunch of junk so my home doesn't feel like such a clutter-dome. i hate coming home from work, wanting to do nothing but watch tv and then be annoyed by my surroundings!

question: where do you donate/sell stuff? just wanting to sell through a bunch of random stuff and start over!

just got back from a pre-bday trip to mexico...it was delightful, relaxing, the food was incredible and SO fresh! margaritas & ceviches every chance i got. the headboard was done in the traditional otomi embroidered fabric, inspiring me to cover something in it!

i love mexico and plan to visit as much as i can !

heading to santa cruz, cause i have never been...planning on standing in every patch of sunshine and just chillin.

in an effort to DECREASE carbs i am actually doing some cooking!

i have tried to cut carbs and the only way to sustain it for a good while (if you are a carb addict like me) then you have to prep snacks + meals! cause when your hungry its too tempting to reach for that chip or cracker..

saw this and i made it from here its 100 calories! and honestly if i could make anything using my muffin tins i would, plus it was delicious!

and this month's issue of Whole Living has some really good recipes...lentil soup is delish!

i am obsessing on adding a little neon to my everyday. i have already painted my nails a bright red/orange..really wanted the above pink! and i am enjoying watching my fingers type with my nails done, feel like less of a mess..new resolution perhaps?

i bought the neon orange running shoes below..they are SO comfortable and i think they may glow in the dark! hoping for a little extra effort now that i have new trainers!

even though its super sunny here in CA--i know we are spoiled..i am realizing i am a warm weather gal, and if its cold i want to be in a snowy village somewhere..in the meantime i am going to add neon whenever i can, it reminds me of summer sunshine!

jodhpur, my favorite city

i visited Jodhpur this time while in India and I am so happy i did, has to be my new favorite city! it is walled in city, known as the blue city that many people paint their homes to keep cool, and its main attraction is the impressive Mehrangarh fort. what i loved most about it was our hotel (more on that tomorrow) and being able to walk around all the windy cobblestone streets amongst the cows, tuk tuks and experience the town.

hi friends, hope your holidays have been spectacular!

i am working on my new years resolutions, and these images are inspiring the list.

BUT first before i can even think about the new year...i am cleaning out the cobwebs...i am sort of frantic about the new year every year--the junk, bad food, piles of random stuff, dead batteries, expired anything, magazines recycled all get dealt with/donated, or pitched before the new year hits...then its a clean slate!

i am a whirling tasmanian cleaning nutball (everyone around my house is running from me)

yesterday was christmas tree down, cleaned out kitchen cupboards

today is attacking under bathroom sinks, and closet

then hopefully i will get to my inbox, playlists on itunes, iphoto organizing..(dreading that one)

whew! had the appetizer party last night and it was such fun! of course, i waited until the last minute to decorate the table, hang the glitter "merry christmas" sign, make food, set up goodie bags with yummy micro brew to take on your way out, light lights, wrap gifts, get dogs all decked out, clean cushions on the couch.....as you can tell i am a procrastinator and not a real entertainer that i strive to be...but it all came together and i thought it looked pretty....now exhausted and i can chill before santa comes!

(thank you all for the appetizer recommendations, they came in handy)

whoa...i got to my 1000th post!

i didn't start this blog with any goals, i had no idea what i was going to write about or focus on...my 1st post here as you can see couldn't be anymore random...a post about breakfast images? i remember my brother giving me grief about that one...but i told him look at the image, its pretty!

i get asked "why do you blog?"

Not sure really, maybe i have a random thought, a pretty image to share, a rikshaw mention, need some fashion advice, tell you about tunes i am listening too...or maybe because its been my little happy place i like to go to and just be me. I have met some amazing people through this little blog, some creative people that i admire and get constantly inspired by on a daily basis. i am always thrilled when i get a comment from a familiar "friend" or a new acquaintance. And when i get told in person .."i read your blog" i am genuinely surprised and incredible flattered.

my trip in india is ending today and i am heading home

i am swirling with so many thoughts and so much inspiration i can't wait to share..not sure where to begin...7 albums of film later i am going to need some time editing down the photos and recalling all the details.

i can't believe it's the holidays when i get back, i am looking forward to seeing the pups and get back into the swing of things (and brushing my teeth with tap water)

Today I took some time out to go hear Rachel Ashwell, of Shabby Chic speak. She took us through unexpected pages in her new book, Shabby Chic Inspirations. Showing us images of how friends, artists she loves, and clients all have different tastes but all still have something very shabby-chic (a chipped mirror, treasures from a random flea market mixed with black walls!)

All of this I found interesting, but what I was touched by the most was her genuine honesty. She was speaking on the anniversary of her mom's passing and talking about how she thinks of her often, had made all welled up in tears. She also spoke how the last 3 years (declaring bankruptcy) have been really tough & hideous, and through it all she has gotten back to what inspires her most...people.

Her newest adventure is she has bought a B&B in Prairie Land Texas...why texas? Its the home of one of the BEST flea markets in the country and she spends a bunch of time there, so when the B&B needed a buyer she bought it! From the images in the book-- it looks rustic, relaxing with delicious looking beds.

the countdown to my india trip has begun! cannot wait to get there and soak it all up and get inspired by everything around me. i am starting a 'wish list' and present list for the holidays....(hint.. gold bangles above!) you can't visit jaipur and not take in the gems and jewelry made there. the gem palace is a sight to see.

happy friday folks!

well for some reason i am so sluggish after NY..i have had jetlag for so many days..i guess i have been running on fumes before i left and its all catching up to me..but NY was great as always. Very fun to see old and new accounts at the show and show them our goodies! Plus.. my sweet mom came up to play with me, which was so fun to pal around with her. Going to chill all weekend...

what's happening with you? getting a pumpkin? already getting excited for Christmas music...(i am mad i know!)

some highlights from the trip:

i ate like a champ in that city, i will re-visit this restaurant peels everytime i get back there, the best breakfast with southern charm!

visiting the Billy Reid shop on Bond Street, wonderful customer service and i adore this designer

tried this in a cocktail and i thought i was drinking something i should be drinking at a spa ...very yummy!

treating myself to The Standard located right above the Highline and near chelsea market--location perfection! they were so kind and had the best customer service! after long days standing and pounding the pavement in NY it matters that you have clean comfy sheets and even better... a room with a bathtub!

in my fury to get ready for NY, i am always feeling not "chic or cool" enough with my current wardrobe, especially for a NY visit....so i stumbled into Madewell, and dropped some coin.

i went to one of their first stores in Century City probably 7 years ago..."what's this store" i said.. ..saleperson said "it's a new test store of mickey drexler's"..a.k.a jcrew's little casual sister

and i am proud to say..i still have those pieces, and wear them often!

this time no exception..great fall colors--a yummy burnt amber, sweaters with vintage style buttons, and plaids that are perfect colorations

a little update on me: (thats what blogs are for right?!)

this week i have filled my travel-bug thats been nagging at me...planned a work trip to NY and Home for the holidays and even more exciting planning a BIG TRIP back to INDIA is underway! so thrilled to do this trip and add places, food spots, shops, and adventures i wasn't able to do last time. there will be a bunch of work, but that's so much fun to do in country. (lots more on that trip later)

this weekend, i have an old friend who used to live out here, coming in town for the weekend!we have tons of "girl-time" planned, its been so long since i have seen her i am so excited!

kantha stitched quilts ...these vintage indian sari's are stitched together with narrow stitches ...and thin quilting that are super soft...I purchased a patchwork one from here and i have it on my couch to snuggle under every eve, its so nice to be under something so hand-made

Not sure if you know, but i went to the university of alabama...seeing this yellow hammer brings back some good ole fun memories of some fantastic people i wish i ran into more often..
