pas de deux

did i ever tell you i used to dance ballet? i got pretty serious into it, was in nutcracker a bunch of years, & swan lake...then 'boys' entered my brain and i was forever distracted and wanted to hang out at school more often than go downtown and take ballet...
(sortta regret that i ever stopped)

gorgeous...to be able to be that flexible again would be so nice
after so many years dancing..at least i will always know the positions, posture, and routines..ahh to be in a tu tu..love..
so i went to see Black Swan Last night...first of all i needed to digest what i had seen before i could comment on it...secondly, i could have done without some of the 'horror' aspects of it
(i laughed at some of those scenes)...BUT i highly recommend it. Natalie portman was so beautiful as was Mila Kunis..
i adored the costumes, her shrugs and leg warmers.. the film really captured the real discipline it takes to be a dancer...
do i dare try and take up lessons again..?

I danced up until a year ago and I miss it so much! Once I'm at university, I'm hoping to join an adult class. At my old dance school, there was an adult ballet class for beginners, so you should definitely take a look!

Good luck with it all.

Yep, I was a dancer for a long time and would love to get back into it for exercise to drop some lbs. Was just reading about Pure Bare and thinking about signing up for a class there. But I loved tap dancing the most, would love to pick that up again.

Such a gorgeous film. I too regret quitting ballet. I'm thinking of taking a barre class to get a little dance (and fitness) back in my life!

Loved the movie as well! I was too in the Nutcracker for years! Our company never did Swan Lake but we did Sleeping Beauty, Giselle, and some of the other major ballets. My angel turns 3 next month and I'm buying her her first pair of ballet shoes :)

Do it!! My story is similar (loved it but quit in favor of normal teenage pursuits) and I have taken some adult classes and absolutely love them. It makes me feel like a kid again. :-)

It was quite a film! I watched most of it looking at the palms of my hands! I suffer from what you call a "weak stomach." Ha Ha! The girls, costumes, choreography were all beautiful though!

I never took dance lessons as a kid, even though I wanted to. Too busy with piano and sports, anyhow, as an adult I really wanted to do it, and my husband got me adult ballet lessons a few years ago for Christmas. I'm so glad I did it. You should definitely do it!
