Ugh... so jealous! Take lots of photos! Can't wait to hear all about it.
Jealous!!
We honeymooned in Jaipur and the Taj hotels are always nice for a great meal and gorgeous grounds. Have fun! :)
oh jodhpur... I lived there in 1996 and 2000. you must have some alu mattar (peas + potatoes) at the Midtown Restaurant. looks a little dive-y but it's the BEST in the world. The Fort is amazing (I lived there on both occasions). you will definitely need a good chunk of a day to explore. lots of antique shops near the Umaid Bhavan palace (which is a FABULOUS place to go for dinner). I love, adore, jodhpur so much. the blue city :) soooo lovely. please take pics and blog them!
Delhi - Chandni Chowk – the world’s most crowded bazaar, which is like heaven to me! Santushti Market – lovely outdoor complex with high quality crafts and pashminas...bought the most insane tie and dye (as they call it) pashmina in electric pink mixed with reds and black. I wish I had bought every color they had!
Jaipur - Oh the shopping! Gem Palace – Jaipur is famous for semiprecious stones, particularly amethysts. I still think about the jewelry in this shop! Mirza Ismail Road. Miss India – Reasonably priced silver jewelry, ranging from bangles to cuffs and earrings. M.I. Road (located across the street from Gem Palace). Amrapali – Downstairs is full of silver bangles, cuffs and necklaces, as well as strands of semi-precious jewels, and turquoise earrings. Upstairs is where the show-stopping stuff is kept. I had to pick my jaw up off the floor! Panch Batti M.I.Road (located across the street from McDonald's).
Jodphur: Merangarh Fort Palm Reader / Astrologer – Mr. M. L. Sharma 94141-30200 (mobile) slsharma@satyam.net.in. Mr. Sharma also has an office at the Umaid Bhawan Palace. This was such a fun experience!
I learned the hard way shopping in India that if you find something you like and you think it is different, buy it immediately. I waited on things thinking I would find a hundred more around the corner or in another part of the country and it just isn't so. Have a blast!
THANK you all for your comments I love all of this penning it my travel journal right this minute!
