Can't help either with the NYC thing, but I live in Memphis if you'd ever like to swap! I don't have the NYC offerings BUT I do have the WORLDS AWAY headquarters just down the street. That always makes my day even after a trip to the big city.

I am so sorry i don't live in NYC @ 45 mins away...by the beach...lots of Winter rentals, don't know about trade. I just had to post because Holiday is my favorite girly movie. I love it, everything about it...right down to the obscene amount of fabulous coats Cameron D's character sported in it! I Love, Love, Love the idea of it and I will keep my fingers crossed you find a great swap mate...along with a hot Jude Law-ish brother that stops on by! ;)

Have you tried vrbo.com? We used it when we moved to LA and wanted to try out a possible neighborhood.

Hi Rikshaw! I love your blog and have been following your posts for awhile now...I wanted to let you know that I did a post today on home exchanges, and I specifically wrote about a company that one of my friends has used and had great success with! When she first approached me about writing about this program the first thing I thought of was The Holiday too!

Here is a link if you are interested...please let me know if you have any questions. I'm sure my friend would be happy to speak with you if you would like more info!

Creativecaravan.net is a great site that allows artists/designers/etc to stay in new yorkers' apartments for as little as a week (i think) at a time while working in the city! I've never done it, but it may be worth a shot! good luck!
